Apart from supporting individual buyers, the policy also aims to strengthen Delhi's EV ecosystem through digital implementation, battery waste management and infrastructure development.

  • Eligible electric vehicles registered in Delhi are entitled to 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees, subject to the eligibility conditions prescribed under the policy.
  • Electric cars with an ex-showroom price of up to ₹30 lakh are eligible for this exemption.

These timelines apply only to new vehicle registrations. Existing registered vehicles can continue to operate in accordance with the various applicable laws.

Charging Infrastructure and Battery Recycling

The Delhi EV Policy also focuses on strengthening the overall EV ecosystem by: -

  • Expanding public and community EV charging stations.
  • Promoting battery-swapping infrastructure.
  • Introducing a single-window clearance system for EV charging infrastructure.
  • Encouraging safe battery recycling and compliance with the Battery Waste Management Rules.
  • Implementing a fully digital, paperless system for applications, approvals, incentive disbursal, reporting and grievance redressal.
